My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In the Middle: Prelude to a Contemporary Transadaptation by Henry Wittlesey is a compilation of stories by Armine Asryan, Pawel Awdejuk, Alejandra Baccino, Gennady Bondarenko, Marilin Guerrero Casas, Veronica Cordido, Seyit Ali Dastan, Javier Gomez, Jonay Quintero Hernández, Kate Korneeva, Toni Walliis, and Rayan Harake. These authors form the basis for the collection and are as varied and different as the countries they originate from. Transadaptation is the process of adapting text written in one language into another. The stories have a wide range from romantic love to childhood perception, all of these influenced by the countries from which they arise. Even though vastly different, there is a commonality where indeed vastly different cultures meet in the middle with the essence of humanity, all of us living one day at a time. Highly recommended.
