Bow Season by Ryan Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Bow Season by Ryan Alexander is a well-written mystery that captures your attention from the beginning pages. The story revolves around the murder of a young woman in a forest in Wisconsin. A father and son have found the body, and now it's up to Brayden Tucker and Mike Lenard, two detectives to solve the case. As the chapters alternate between the two main characters, you get a sense of who they are while they figure out the case. Brayden is a young detective, and Mike is much older and wiser, or so he would have you think. The storyline is developed well and the writing style is one that keeps you engaged until the end. This is a solid police procedural infused with a little humor and humanity as well. Highly recommend it for an interesting and compelling read.

Iconoclasm: A Survival Guide in the Post-Pandemic Economy by Tony Zorc
Iconoclasm: A Survival Guide in the Post-Pandemic Economy by Tony Zorc
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Iconoclasm: A Survival Guide in the Post-Pandemic Economy by Tony Zorc tackles the topic of the post-pandemic world. Initially, the book focuses on the beginnings of the pandemic, and in the author's view, it was mismanaged. The economy and people suffered greatly like never before. This book shows you ways you can re-imagine your life in the post-pandemic world. Zorc outlines ways you can challenge yourself and achieve success in the new paradigm while not just surviving but thriving. Eminently readable with a casual tone, this book is one you will want to refer to again and again for a positive attitude to help deal with difficult times. Highly recommend.

Safe Harbour: The Sgt. Windflower Mystery Series Book 10 by Mike Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Safe Harbour: The Sgt. Windflower Mystery Series Book 10 by Mike Martin once again showcases the author's skill in creating memorable characters and settings. Sgt. Windflower and his wife have temporarily moved to St. Johns, his wife to go to school for her MBA and Windflower to take on a new job in public outreach. Windflower notices a sign that a girl is missing and finds that she is from Grand Bank. Soon he is asked to help with the case. This is stellar writing that not only creates an engaging mystery but does so by wrapping it in cozy domesticity. The relationships work well, the routines between Windflower and his wife feel real and you get a true sense of knowing the characters. Along the way, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested in the story. This is another win from this prolific and skilled author. Highly recommend this book, the latest in the Windflower mystery series.
