Daughter of Hades: Book 1 of the Love & Peace Series by Mack Little
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Daughter of Hades: Book 1 of the Love & Peace Series by Mack Little is simply put, a beautifully written story. From the opening pages and the brutal opening scenes, you get a sense of the author's depth of historical knowledge, as well as her ability to paint her characters with vivid colors and emotion. The story takes you to the Caribbean in 1649, and a brutal world it is. Dinny has been raped by her slave owner, and she and her brother escape, going on to a pirate ship named Hades. From there the story escalates further, as they are still pursued by the slave owner. Worlds collide as another story of a gruesome murder runs concurrently with Dinny and her twin brother's troubles. Soon these tales mesh together in a most unexpected way. This is such a well executed book, filled with romance, terror, trouble, and human suffering and resilience. Amazing story and highly recommend.
