Book Review: The Perfect Divorce by Jeneva Rose

Let’s be honest—Jeneva Rose knows how to hook a reader, and The Perfect Divorce is no exception. If you like your thrillers twisty, fast-paced, and filled with characters you love to second-guess, this one should definitely be on your summer reading list. The story centers on a successful divorce attorney named Avery, who built her career helping people break up cleanly—but finds herself in the middle of her own messy, suspiciously dangerous separation. When her soon-to-be ex-husband winds up dead, all signs point to her. And from there, things spiral fast. What makes this book stand out is how readable it is. It’s one of those one-more-chapter-until-it’s-2AM books. The chapters are short, punchy, and filled with tension. Every time you think you know where it's headed, Rose throws in just enough doubt to make you second-guess everything and everyone. The pacing is on point, with a good mix of courtroom drama, domestic suspense, and psychological twists. Avery as a character is sharp, unapologetic, and layered. She’s not always likable—and that’s kind of the point. You’re constantly asking yourself, “Is she being framed? Or is she just really good at hiding the truth?” Watching her unravel (or take control?) is part of the fun. This isn’t a book that dives super deep into character studies or heavy themes, but it’s not trying to be that. It’s pure entertainment—dark, suspenseful, and just a little bit messy in the best way. If you liked The Perfect Marriage or The Last Thing He Told Me, you’ll probably enjoy this. It has that same vibe: secrets, betrayal, and the realization that the people closest to you might be the ones you should fear the most. Bottom line? The Perfect Divorce is a fast, addictive read that doesn’t let up. It’s perfect for fans of domestic thrillers and anyone who loves watching powerful women get pushed to the edge—and maybe push back harder. Rating: 4.5/5 Read it if: You love twisty thrillers, courtroom drama, and messy relationships gone wrong.
