Starlight in the Dawn: The Poetic Priestess who chose to fight by Naveen Sridhar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Starlight in the Dawn: The Poetic Priestess who chose to fight by Naveen Sridhar is a brilliantly conceived and perfectly written historical adventure. This is a highly engaging book especially for those who love ancient history. The location is particularly intriguing as Sumer is not often written about. The characters are well-conceived and the plot is convincing and fast-paced. Of note is the strong female character of Enheduanna. It's great to see a strong female lead that sets the tone of strength and fortitude for the book. You can tell the book was researched well and put together with care. For an intriguing and educational read, this book is not to be missed. Highly recommend.

Shadow of the White Bear (Berserker, #3) by J.W. Webb
Shadow of the White Bear by J.W. Webb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Shadow of the White Bear (Berserker, #3) by J.W. Webb is a great culmination of this series. With epic world-building, interesting characters that simply grow in depth and dimension, the author has created a masterful fantasy world. There are witches galore who must be defeated for some semblance of a normal life. This is an ongoing point of crisis in this storyline and one that certainly pulls you in. You can't help but become involved in the characters' dilemmas and challenges. The author has a vivid imagination with his in-depth descriptions of castles to deserts and more. Likewise, this is action-packed writing, with fierce battles, world-building, and plenty of tension. All of this is delivered with a touch of humor in spots among the characters. Absolutely engaging and fun to read. Highly recommend.

Feeling Lucky: A Pandemic Novel by Mark Barkawitz
Feeling Lucky: A Pandemic Novel by M S M Barkawitz
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
FEELING LUCKY: A PANDEMIC NOVEL by M S M Barkawitz is a fun novel with a great opening scene. Jackie and her girlfriend Shannon are running a scam and doing it quite well. The scene sets the tone well for the rest of the book. The writing style is fast-paced with touches of humor to keep it on the lighter side. Jackie is a great conniver, a believable character, and one you feel you know by the end of the book. That the setting takes place during the pandemic makes this novel even more interesting. A great combination of mystery, brand names sprinkled here and there and the main character with a generous amount of chutzpah, make this a wild ride of a book. You can tell through the cadence of the writing that the author has a formidable spirit expressed through his stories. Highly recommend it for a fun and entertaining read.
